ABB in Pinetops, North Carolina, is sponsoring an exhibit called How People Make Things that is coming to Imagination Station Science Museum in Wilson, NC fall 2010.
Imagination Station is located in a former federal court house in downtown WilsonAccording to the museum's mission statement, "Imagination Station Science Museum exists to stimulate an interest in science and technology while improving the quality of informal science education through dynamic hands-on science learning. Through outreach, interactive programs and exhibits, Imagination Station is committed to serving as a major educational resource center for eastern North Carolina families, school systems, educators, and students. Imagination Station seeks to enable people of all ages to discover the impacts and future of science and technology on their daily lives."
The How People Make Things traveling exhibit was created with the mindset that every object has a story of how it is made. It celebrates the people, the manufacturing processes, and the technology used to make everyday objects in our world. The exhibit brings the manufacturing experience to life by providing hand-on activities in cutting, molding, deforming, and assembly (visitors can take home the objects they create), role-playing opportunities, matching games, factory tour videos, and live demonstrations.
The ABB location in Pinetops will have the opportunity to display their products and tell about their business in the Factories in Your Neighborhood section, a display that recognizes local factories and shows that many everyday items are made close to our homes.
